The film's supporting cast, including Kingsley, Pierce, and Hall, were brought in in April and May 2012. Filming took place from May 23, 2012 to December 17, 2012, primarily at his EUE/Screen Gems Studios in Wilmington, North Carolina. Seventeen companies provided visual effects for the film.

Story of the Movie :

At a New Year`s Eve party in 1999, Tony Stark meets scientist Maya Hansen, the inventor of an experimental regenerative treatment named Extremis that allows recovery from crippling injuries. Disabled scientist Aldrich Killian offers them a place in his company Advanced Idea Mechanics, but Stark rejects him. In December 2012, seven months after the Battle of New York, Stark is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and is having frequent panic and anxiety attacks due to his experiences during the alien invasion and subsequent battle in 2012 avengers is  Restless, he has built dozens of new Iron Man suits to cope with his insomnia, creating friction with his girlfriend Pepper Potts.

A string of bombings claimed by a terrorist known as the Mandarin has left intelligence agencies bewildered by a lack of forensic evidence. Stark's security chief Happy Hogan is badly injured in one such attack at the TCL Chinese Theatre and is put into a coma, prompting Stark to boldly issue a televised threat to the Mandarin, revealing his home address in the process.  Mandarin sends a cannon helicopter to destroy Stark's house. Hansen, who came to warn Stark, survives the attack with Potts. Stark escapes in an experimental new Iron Man suit designed by his artificial intelligence J.A.R.V.I.S. A pilot to the countryside of Tennessee, following a flight plan from Stark's Mandarin survey. The world believes he's dead because Stark's new armor isn't fully functional and doesn't have enough power to return to California.

With the help of a local boy named Harley Keener, Stark investigates the wreckage of a local explosion. A characteristic of mandarin attacks, but earlier than known attacks by terrorists. He discovered that the "bombing" was caused by an extremely exposed soldier. The soldier's body explosively refused treatment. These explosions were mistakenly attributed to a terrorist plot  to cover up Extremeis' mistakes. Stark sees Extremis directly when Mandarin agents Sabin and Brandt attack Extremis. Stark kills Brandt and incapacitates Sabin. Meanwhile, Killian reappears and, with the help of Hansen, kidnaps Potts. American intelligence continues to search for Mandarin's whereabouts, and James Rhodes (formerly the  War Machine is now renamed Iron Patriot) has been trapped to steal his armor.

Stark tracks Mandarin to Miami and infiltrates his headquarters with improvised weapons. Inside, he discovered that Mandarin was actually a British actor named Trevor Slattery, unaware of the actions being taken in his image. After catching Stark, Killian revealed that he had exposed Potts to Extremis, hoping to help Stark correct his mistakes while Stark was trying to save her. When Hansen betrays Killian by threatening to endanger his operation, Killian kills her.

When Stark discovers that Kirian is trying to attack President Ellis on an Air Force One in Iron Patriot's armor controlled by Sabin, she escapes and reunites with Rhodes. Stark kills Sabin and saves passengers and crew, but he can't stop Killian from kidnapping Ellis and destroying Air Force One. They track Killian to a flooded and damaged oil tanker where Killian is trying to kill Ellis on live television. The Vice President will then become a puppet leader at Kirian's command in exchange for Extremis to heal his little daughter's disability. On the platform, Stark works to save Potts, and Rhodes chases the president. Stark is J.A.R.V.I.S. Summon the remaining Iron Man suits used by.

Remotely controlled  to provide close air support. Rhodes secured the president and took him safely, and Stark discovered that Potts had survived the Extreme Trial. Before he can save her, her oil rig collapses around her, she falls on the platform under her, and Stark convinces her that she's dead. Stark fights Killian but is cornered. Killian, who diverted Hansen's extreme research as a cure for his own disability and expanded the program to include injured war veterans, revealed that he was the real mandarin behind the cover of the slattery. increase. With extreme power, Potts survives the fall and intervenes and kills Kirian to save Stark.

As a sign of his dedication to Potts, Stark destroys all  Iron Man suits from a distance. Happy wakes up from a coma after the Vice President and Slutary are arrested. With the help of Stark, the extreme effects of Potts stabilize. And Stark promises to reduce his life as Iron Man, undergo surgery to remove debris near his heart, and throw his outdated chest arc reactor into the ocean. He believes he will always be Iron Man, even without technology.

Pre-production:

In September 2011, Marvel Studios agreed to shoot a film primarily at EUE / Screen Gems Studios in Wilmington, NC. Michigan was also in  the production competition, but the Michigan Films Division couldn't match the tax incentives in North Carolina. In April 2012, Ben Kingsley entered into negotiations to play a villain in Iron Man 3. This role was also auditioned by Anthony Mackie, who  later played Sam Wilson on the MCU. The following week, producer Kevin Feige announced that Iron Man 3 would begin filming "within five weeks" in North Carolina, a "fully Tony Stark-centric movie" by  Iron Man... very strongly influenced in the first half. "....  He will be naked, his back will hit the wall, and he will have to use his intelligence to get out of it. He can't call Thor,  Cap,  Nick Fury, or find an empty helicopter. A few days later,  Walt Disney Company China, Marvel Studios, and DMG Entertainment announced an agreement to co-produce Iron Man 3 in China. DMG partially funded and produced in Marvel and China to handle the collaborative work. DMG also distributed movies in China with Disney.

The following week, Guy Pierce entered into final negotiations to play Aldrich Killian, the character  in Extreme's comic  story arc. Chinese star Andy Lau became involved in negotiations to join the film, as a Chinese scientist and old friend of Stark's who comes to his aid. Lau would later turn down the role, and Wang Xueqi was cast instead. Jessica Chastain entered into discussions for a role in the film, but bowed out due to scheduling conflicts. In May, Rebecca Hall was cast in her place, and her role was described as "a scientist who plays a pivotal role in the creation of a nanotechnology, known as Extremis." Over the next few weeks, James Badge Dale was cast as Eric Savin, Ashley Hamilton was cast as Firepower, and Favreau returned to reprise his role as Happy Hogan from the first two films. Stéphanie Szostak and William Sadler were also cast in the film, with Sadler playing the President of the United States. Despite erroneous early reports that Cobie Smulders would reprise her role as Maria Hill from The Avengers in the film, Smulders wrote on her verified Twitter page that this was not so. According to Drew Pearce, Emilia Clarke was initially cast for a private role before the script was modified.

Post-production

Chris Townsend served as the visual effects supervisor for the film, which included over 2,000 visual effects shots and was performed by 17 studios, including Weta Digital, Digital Domain, Scanline VFX, Trixter, Framestore, Luma Pictures, Fuel VFX, Cantina Creative, Cinesite,  Embassy Visual Effects, Lola, Capital T, Prologue and Rise FX. Townsend stated that from January 2013 until filming ended in April, the collective crew had one day off, otherwise they worked seven days a week and 14 to 18 hours a week. day.

Digital Domain, Scanline VFX and Trixter each worked on separate shots with Mark 42 armor, working with different digital models. The studios shared some of their files to ensure consistency between  shots. For the Mark 42 and Iron Patriot armor, Legacy Effects crafted the piecemeal suits  worn on set. Townsend explains that "We would always shoot a loose jumpsuit with Robert and then we would also put track markers on his pants. He either wears high heels or goes in a box. so he's the right height— Iron Man is 6" Tall 5". During shooting we used multiple witness cams, Canon C300s, and we had two or three running whenever there was an Iron Man or Extremis character." The artists studied time lapse photography of decaying fruit and vegetables and actual phenomena such as the aurora borealis as reference for the effect of the glowing Extremis characters. The heads-up display features of the helmet were inspired by visualization techniques from MRI diagnostic pattern recognition and graph theory, particularly by the connectogram, a circular graph that maps all of the white-matter connections of the human brain.

The film's production was delayed following Downey's leg injury, and for certain shots they were forced to create a double for Downey. Townsend explained that "The collective VFX [supervisors] and unit leads ran into a room as soon as the incident happened to try to ascertain what sequences could they shoot." Certain shots were filmed with a body double on set, and Weta Digital created a digital body double for others.

A total of three hours and 15 minutes of footage were shot before editing, where it was brought down to 130 minutes (119 without the credits), marking the longest stand-alone Iron Man film. Post-production also had a 3D conversion and a digital remaster for the IMAX release.Todd-AO mixed the sound in Dolby Atmos to enhance the immersive experience. Trevor Slattery was originally meant to die in the film, appearing during the climatic oil rig battle with an Extremis injector and promptly blowing up after taking it. Pearce said that was "the most Monty Python of all of the beats" in the film. During the editing process, it was determined to keep Slattery alive, with new material shot during the reshoots to accommodate this
