Following Iron Man's critical and commercial success  in May 2008, Marvel Studios announced and immediately set about producing a sequel. In July, Theroux was hired to write the script, and Favreau  signed on to return as director. Downey, Paltrow, and Jackson were set to replay their role from Iron Man, while Cheadle was brought in for Terrence Howard in the role of James Rhodes. Although the film was seen as inferior to the first, it received generally positive reviews from critics in praise of its action sequence and performance. The sequel topped $ 623.9 million in global box office revenue, marking the seventh highest box office revenue in 2010. Nominated for Best Visual Effects Award at Oscar. The sequel Iron Man 3 was released on May 3, 2013.

Story of the Movie :

In Russia, the media reports that Tony Stark has disclosed his identity as Iron Man. Ivan Vanco, whose father, Anton Vanco, a former employee of Stark Industries, had just died, saw this and began building a small arc reactor similar to Stark. Six months later,  Stark became a media superstar and resisted government pressure to sell his designs. To carry on the legacy of his father Howard, he rebuilt the Stark Expo at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in New York.

Stark finds that the palladium core of the arc reactor that keeps him alive and powers his armor is slowly poisoning him, and he can't find a replacement. Stark becomes increasingly reckless and discouraged about his imminent death and chooses not to tell anyone about his condition. He appoints his personal assistant Pepper Potts as CEO of Stark Industries and hires Stark employee Natalie Rushman  as his personal assistant on her behalf. Stark participates in the Monaco Historic Grand Prix and is attacked by Vanco, who wields an electric whip in the middle of the race. Stark wears armor and defeats Vanco, but his suit is badly damaged. Vanco explains that he wanted to prove to the world that Iron Man was not invincible.

Impressed by Vanco's performance, Stark's rival Justin Hammer now creates a series of armored suits  that forge Vanco's death and ruin Stark's stage while releasing Vanco from prison. I asked, but Vanco decided that an unmanned drone was better. Stark gets drunk while wearing  Iron Man's suit while he believes it's his last birthday party. Tired, Stark's best friend, US Air Force Lieutenant  James Rhodes, wears Stark's prototype armor and tries to detain him. The battle ends in a stalemate, and Rhodes confiscates US Air Force armor.

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s director Nick Fury approaches Stark, revealing that "Rushman" is Agent Natasha Romanov and  Howard Stark is S.H.I.E.L.D. The founder that Fury knew personally. Fury explains that Vanco's father and Stark invented the Arc Reactor together, but when Anton tried to sell it, Stark deported him. The Soviet Union sent Anton to  Gulag. Fury gives Stark some of his father's old material. Tony discovered a hidden message in the  1974 Stark Expo diorama. It turns out that it is a diagram of the atomic structure of the new element. Stark is his AI, J.A.R.V.I.S. Use to synthesize it. Knowing that Vanco is still alive, he puts a new element in the arc reactor and ends his palladium addiction.

At the current exposition, Hammer unveiled Vanko's armored drone, led by Rhodes in a heavily armed version of the armored prototype. Stark arrives to warn Rhodes, but Vanco remotely controls all  drones and Rhodes armor and attacks Stark. Hammer is soon  arrested for jailbreaking Banco, Romanov and Stark. Bodyguard Happy Hogan chases Banco at the Hammer Factory. Vanco escapes, but Romanov returns control of Rhodes' armor to him. Together, Stark and Rhodes defeat Vanco and his drone. Vanco blasted his suit with the defeated drone and committed suicide.

During the debriefing, Fury  intends to use S.H.I.E.L.D. for Stark only as a consultant. Stark and Rhodes receive medals for their heroes. In the post-credits scene, S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson reports that a large hammer was found at the bottom of a crater in the New Mexico desert.

Post Production :

In January 2010, IMAX Corporation, Marvel, and Paramount announced that the film would have a limited release on IMAX digital screens. It was not shot with an IMAX camera, so it was converted to the format using  IMAX DMR technology. The film was re-released in February. Olivia Munn's original role was cut, but she was given a new role in the reshoots.

Janek Sirrs was the film's visual effects supervisor, and Industrial Light & Magic did most of the effects, as in the first film. ILM's visual effects supervisor on the film, Ben Snow, said their work on the film was "harder" than their work on the first, noting that  this time Favreau was Ask them for more. Snow described the process of  creating the composites digitally:

On the first Iron Man, we tried to use the Legacy Studios, Stan Winston`s effects company] and Stan Winston suits as much as we could. For the second one, Jon [Favreau] was confident we could create the CG suits, and the action dictated using them. So, Legacy created what we called the "football suits" from the torso up with a chest plate and helmet. We'd usually put in some arm pieces, but not the whole arm. In the house fight sequence, where Robert Downey Jr. staggers around tipsy, we used some of the practical suit and extended it digitally. Same thing in the Randy's Donuts scene. But in the rest of the film, we used the CG suit entirely. And Double Negative did an all-digital suit for the Monaco chase.

ILM created 527 shots for the film, using programs like Maya.  Perception did more than 125 shots for the film.  They've designed gadgets, such as Tony Stark's transparent LG smartphone,  and created  Stark Expo sets as well as desktop computer desktop interfaces. touch and  holographic lab environment.  A total of 11 visual effects studios worked on the film.
